| Joe Sommer joined The Pennsylvania State University in the fall of 1980 following completion of his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Sommer has received numerous awards including the UIUC M&IE Distinguished Alumnus Award, the Schreyer Honors College Outstanding Honors Advisor Award and the Milton S. Eisenhower Award for Distinguished Teaching. He was elected Fellow of ASME in 2007 and serves on the Advisory Board for the Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois. |
