Villena Martinez, Veronica H
Veronica H. Villena is an assistant professor of supply chain and information systems in the Smeal Business School at the Pennsylvania State University. Her research has focused on how buyers and suppliers inadvertently create relational inertia when they commit to establishing strategic partnerships. She is also interested to examine which mechanisms these companies should purposefully set to avoid this inertia and how it can change when buyers and suppliers are embedded in larger networks. Her studies, which have been recognized by the Production and Operations Management, Decision Sciences Institute, and Academy of Management, have disclosed the negative outcomes of strategic partnerships within the supply chain, the role of supply chain managers in assisting this type of relationships, and the trade-offs between efficiency and innovation in collaborative buyer-supplier efforts. Her work has been published in a variety of prestigious journals, including Journal of Operations Management, Journal of Supply Chain Management, and Decision Sciences.
